ASHBURN, Va. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
North Stafford (Stafford, Va.) held on for a 19-7 victory over
Briar Woods (Ashburn, Va.) on Saturday. The difference for the Wolverines was that they ran for a touchdown.
The Wolverines led 6-0 at halftime, but the Falcons recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 6:00 to go in the third. North Stafford finally took the lead for good when they ran for a touchdown with 11:00 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Briar Woods scored on a touchdown run by
Bryan Capozzoli in the quarter.
The loss came as a shock for BW, which entered the game ranked No. 2 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Virginia, while NS was ranked No. 8.
Briar Woods' only touchdown came on a 30-yard run by Capozzoli in the third quarter.
The loss comes after Briar Woods defeated Loudoun County 35-3 last week. The loss broke Briar Woods' three-game winning streak. With the win the Stafford school extended its winning streak to four games.
