Basketball Recap: Hilton Head Island Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richmond Hill, Hilton Head Island was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Hilton Head Prep Dolphins by a score of 48-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Seahawks also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

Among those leading the charge was Leah Elizabeth Ann Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lawton Crose, who posted four points in addition to nine rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.

Hilton Head Island was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Hilton Head Prep lost, don't look at Courtney Campbell. Despite the final result, she had 22 points along with eight assists and eight boards. That was a full 56.4% of Hilton Head Prep's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Zeoli, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Hilton Head Island now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hilton Head Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Hilton Head Island didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-32 defeat against Brunswick on the 13th. As for Hilton Head Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-39 victory against Hilton Head Christian Academy on the 13th.
