Basketball Game Preview: Sugar Hill Christian Academy Stallions vs. Victory Baptist Warrior

The Sugar Hill Christian Academy Stallions will take on the Victory Baptist Warrior at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Sugar Hill Christian Academy got the win against War Hill Christian Academy by a conclusive 74-48. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Stallions just coasted through the last quarter.

Sugar Hill Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Tyler Veugeler, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, and Randall Fanning, who posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The game was Veugeler's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Espin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Victory Baptist came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Crusaders 79-31. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-21.

Victory Baptist's win came from a few key players Sugar Hill Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dontaye Bell, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Kuykendall, who put up 13 points and five steals.

Victory Baptist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Sugar Hill Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.

Everything came up roses for Sugar Hill Christian Academy against Victory Baptist when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-19 win.
