Basketball Game Preview: Whitewater Wildcats vs. Upson-Lee Knights

The Whitewater Wildcats will take on the Upson-Lee Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitewater is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.

Whitewater took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 68-48 margin over Trinity Christian. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Whitewater's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Robbins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds gave Robbins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Case Roberts, who went 10 of 17 en route to 21 points.

Whitewater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Upson-Lee posted their closest win since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Spalding 53-51. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Jaguars are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Upson-Lee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Whitewater, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
