The Pine Ridge Panthers were the 38-26 winner over the Atlantic Sharks when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Pine Ridge received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 66-48 to Atlantic. Pine Ridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imani Ihaza, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Ihaza continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Murray, who scored 14 points.
Pine Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Atlantic pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Aurielle Reavis, who scored 34 points along with seven steals for Atlantic. That makes it four consecutive games in which Reavis has scored at least a third of Atlantic's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Johnson, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Pine Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Atlantic, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Seabreeze at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Seabreeze has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Atlantic, they will head out on the road to challenge University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
