The Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Shikellamy on the road to the tune of 69-13. The result was nothing new for Mount Carmel, who have now won six matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Carmel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Blessing, who rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Xavier Diaz also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Mount Carmel's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 53 points. As for Shikellamy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Carmel will face off against Shamokin Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Shikellamy, they will head out on the road to face off against Southern Columbia Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Columbia Area presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shikellamy in Pennsylvania (Southern Columbia Area is ranked 49th, while Shikellamy is ranked 409th).
