The Platt Panthers will take on the Guilford Grizzlies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Saturday, Platt needed a bit of extra time to put away Glastonbury. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 28-27 win over the Guardians.

09/12/25 vs Ridgefield | 104 |
10/05/24 @ Hall | 101 |
09/13/24 @ Glastonbury | 100 |

Austen Standish produced another solid performance rushing for 138 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 224 yards and three TDs. Those 138 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Platt's leading receiver Jesus Vasquez was Standish's top target yet again, picking up 188 receiving yards and one score.
Meanwhile, Guilford hadn't done well against Shelton recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Grizzlies never let the Gaels get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. Those 17 points were actually the fewest the Grizzlies have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Guilford had a senior duo take command as Aiden Ruotolo rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown and Alex Tafro rushed for 58 yards and one TD. Ruotolo also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.
Guilford didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Shelton to a completion percentage of just 46.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Hyde Jacobson, Shane Connelly, and Wesley Tandler, who each logged one passes deflected. Guilford hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.46 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Guilford's defense didn't let Jackson Hyner, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ruotolo, Lucio Nastri, and Tandler, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Platt's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Platt has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 150 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 217.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
