Basketball Recap: Omaha North Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ban Yor and Jerri'on Williams

Omaha North lost against Omaha Westside back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Omaha North Vikings'2024 ended with a 74-60 defeat against the Omaha Westside Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Warriors are ranked second).

Jerri'On Williams and Ban Yor certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Williams went 11 of 19 on his way to 28 points, while Yor went 8 for 19 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. The match was Williams' third in a row with at least ten points.

Omaha Westside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lee Robinson out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Robinson is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Emre Gedik, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.

Omaha North now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Omaha Westside, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Omaha North will be playing in front of their home fans against Bellevue West at 7:15 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Omaha Westside, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Creighton Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Omaha Westside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
