Aloha is 2-8 against Sunset since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Apollos at 5:00 p.m. Aloha has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Aloha might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-5 to Gresham, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brooklyn Sweatman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Izzy Wagner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Sunset never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Central Catholic on Wednesday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Rams.
Adrianna Moreno looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Pe?a, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Gianna Micciche was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sunset hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Sunset's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Aloha, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Aloha has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Sunset struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aloha came out on top in a nail-biter against Sunset when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 15-14. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Apollos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
