The Poston Butte Broncos will challenge the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poston Butte has four straight victories, ALA - Gilbert North has 23 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Poston Butte got the win against Combs by a conclusive 19-4. Considering the Broncos have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Haylee Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Lopez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Kimberly Westover and Jasmine Barrera did most of the damage at the plate: Westover went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Barrera got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Westover is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Madrid, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Poston Butte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, ALA - Gilbert North came up short against Prescott on Friday, falling 13-1.
ALA - Gilbert North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coco Gomez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Gomez hit this season.
Poston Butte's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
ALA - Gilbert North's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Poston Butte has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. It's a different story for ALA - Gilbert North, though, as they've only averaged .306. Will they be able to contain Poston Butte's hitters?
