The Westover Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-44 walloping at the hands of Hardaway. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Westover in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.
Westover's loss came despite strong showings from Sydney Donaldson and Jada Landers. Donaldson scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Landers scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Conway, who scored two points along with three blocks.
Hardaway got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Akilah Shelton out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Shelton is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenaiya Hardy, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Westover has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Hardaway, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
Westover will head out on the road to challenge the Syrupmakers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cairo is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Hardaway will take on the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Saturday.
