Baseball Game Preview: Lytle Pirates vs. Dilley Wolves

Lytle has gone 9-1 against Dilley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Lytle will square off against Dilley at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lytle is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Burbank just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 7-6.

Lytle saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Wood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5. Wood has become a key player for Lytle: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Lee Mills also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Dilley came up short against Hondo on Friday, falling 14-3. The Wolves have struggled against the Owls recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Johnny Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Lytle's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Dilley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Lytle suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Dilley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Lytle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
