Video: Roschon Johnson accounts for all 10 TDs
The junior quarterback accounted for 3,968 yards and 56 touchdowns as a sophomore.Crosby (Texas) football coach Jeff Riordan said it all after
Roschon Johnson did it all on Friday night.
Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback from
Port Neches-Groves (Port Neches, Texas), scored the game-winning touchdown on a 2-yard touchdown with 25 seconds remaining in an epic 72-69 Class 5A-Division II bi-district round win over Crosby.
It punctuated a remarkable night for the Texas-bound Johnson, who rushed for 272 yards and passed for 326 more at Baytown's Stallworth Stadium.
Johnson's final touchdown was his 10th of the game. He's ranked the third-best dual threat quarterback in the country for the Class of 2019, according to 247Sports.
"Johnson is a once-in-a-generation player," Riordan told the
Houston Chronicle. "He played a fantastic game for them tonight and did everything he needed for them to win."
Johnson's performance somehow overshadowed a superlative effort by Crosby's
Craig Williams, who rushed for 344 yards and four touchdowns. Williams is committed to Baylor. Teammate
Jaiden Howard, a senior quarterback, accounted for 440 yards and six touchdowns.
All of it was in defeat for Crosby, which finished with more than 700 yards of offense. Johnson, who threw four touchdowns to
Preston Riggs, was simply too much.
