On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Manuel Sarcos, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ethan Lindor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
West Broward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as True North Classical Academy struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas came tearing into Thursday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 10-0 shutout. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 11th.
Daniel Tartaglia tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Bennett Gary was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Rizzo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for West Broward, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
