Wilson is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Manheim Township is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wilson Bulldogs will take on the Manheim Township Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Wilson really took it to J.P. McCaskey for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-20 win on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-6.
Wilson can attribute much of their success to Tommy Hunsicker, who threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and Correll Akings, who gained 153 total yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Edison Case, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Manheim Township stacked a ninth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Penn Manor on the road to the tune of 59-0. Given Manheim Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked third, while Penn Manor is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manheim Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden Johnson, who rushed for 20 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Declan Clancy, who rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Their wins bumped Wilson to 7-2 and Manheim Township to 9-0.
Wilson didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Manheim Township in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win. Does Wilson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Manheim Township turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
