Dallas Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric Lions. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

William Russell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Josh Maki was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Dallas Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Dallas Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Harvest Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric will face off against rival Trinity Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
