The Del Campo Cougars will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the El Camino Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Del Campo will be strutting in after a win while El Camino will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Del Campo beat Vista del Lago 54-49. The victory was just what Del Campo needed coming off of a 76-51 loss in their prior match.
Dino Hatzakos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with two blocks. Javi Sidhu was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, El Camino's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Capital Christian, falling 96-51. While losing is never fun, El Camino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 855th, while Capital Christian is ranked 74th).
El Camino's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Justin Watts, who scored 12 points along with three blocks, and Donovin Rolph who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Martin, who scored ten points.
Del Campo's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17. As for El Camino, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
Del Campo came up short against El Camino in their previous matchup on January 5th, falling 60-51. Can Del Campo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
