In what's become a running theme this season, the Gateway Olympians gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 62-24 win over Skyview on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Gateway who now have seven in a row.
Gateway's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hayden Von Boeckman led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven steals. Von Boeckman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Knyle Serrell was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.
When it comes to explaining why Skyview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matthias Ortega. Despite the final result, he scored three points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Skyview struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Gateway pushed their record up to 11-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Skyview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
Gateway will head out on the road to challenge Adams City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Gateway's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests. As for Skyview, they will head out on the road to square off against Thornton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thornton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.7 points per game this season.
