It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Shorecrest Prep Chargers had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They snuck past Master's Academy with a 26-22 victory. Shorecrest Prep's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Shorecrest Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nickolas Bearden, who rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Bearden has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Mitchem, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
When it comes to explaining why Master's Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Cotton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 295 yards on 22 of 37 attempts.
Shorecrest Prep's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Master's Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-1.
Shorecrest Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Master's Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
