Heritage Hills is 9-1 against Mt. Vernon since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Patriots will face off against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Heritage Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Mt. Vernon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Heritage Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Evansville Harrison 15-0. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Mia Kiegel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadley Leibering, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Emma Fischer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Heritage Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon fell victim to Gibson Southern and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 10-0. The Wildcats' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Mt. Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lacey Allyn, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Heritage Hills is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
