Softball Recap: Otter Valley Wins High-Profile Contest Against Brattleboro

Otter Valley faced Brattleboro in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Otters never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Otters have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophie Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Parker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Leann Thomas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Adyson Humiston was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Otter Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive games.

Otter Valley has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.9 runs. As for Brattleboro, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Otter Valley will face off against Hartford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Otters' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hurricanes have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Brattleboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Anthony at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
