II Section IV recap October 29, 2013
Cibola added to the longest winning streak in II Section IV this week by beating Gila Ridge, 16-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Raiders.
San Luis fell to Lake Havasu 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lucky Arvizo provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Cibola bested the Hawks. He completed 20 passes for 250 yards and also ran for 11 yards. Arvizo's favorite target this week was Noah Thompson, who caught 7 passes for 86 yards.
Christopher Gonzales was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 141 yards on 38 carries as Yuma beat Gila Ridge. Teammate Riley McAdam added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
The Raiders' Arvizo and Michael DeCorse-Hall led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Arvizo has thrown for 1,844 yards this season, while DeCorse-Hall has 33 catches for 668 yards. The Knights' AUSTIN STEFICK leads the league in rushing yards with 810.
Going into this week's game against Kofa, Cibola's Arvizo needs 156 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
An important game coming up in II Section IV this week will be when Lake Havasu takes on Tom Hurt's team. Karl Thompson's team is currently in first, while the Hawks are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Knights take on Gila Ridge. Lake Havasu has allowed 175 points this season, while the Hawks have given up 184. The Knights allowed 0 points last week as they defeated the Sidewinders.
The Raiders and Gila Ridge played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Raiders eventually emerging with a 16-14 victory. Arvizo ran for 11 yards in the win.
