This season hasn't been kind to the Fishburne Military Caissons, who are still winless after their 11th game. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Randolph-Macon Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Fishburne Military can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Randolph-Macon Academy is ranked 81st).
When it comes to explaining why Fishburne Military lost, one person who can't be blamed is Giovanni Belisle. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a triple-double on 33 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Belisle scored a full 57.9% of Fishburne Military's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Allyn Koger was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Fishburne Military were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Chidera George, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds for Randolph-Macon Academy. The match was George's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bilal Kebbay, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
Fishburne Military bumped their record down to 0-11 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Randolph-Macon Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fishburne Military will square off against Stuart Hall at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Randolph-Macon Academy and Tandem Friends will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Tandem Friends is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
