York proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 14) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Leyden Eagles, sneaking past 4-2. For the Dukes, this counts as revenge for the 6-3 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2022.
Avery Kanouse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
