West Shamokin has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Cambria Heights Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, West Shamokin strolled past Conemaugh Valley with points to spare, taking the game 42-6.
Lou Swartz had an outrageously good game as he threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes, and also rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Ezra Oesterling was another key contributor, picking up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cambria Heights earned a 27-14 victory over Homer-Center on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Cambria Heights.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cambria Heights to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaxxon Kline, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Trey Trybus, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
The win bumped West Shamokin's season record up to 3-3. Cambria Heights' win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are among the best in the rush game. West Shamokin have been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 266.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cambria Heights struggle in that department as they've been averaging 230.2 per game.
West Shamokin ended up a good deal behind Cambria Heights when they played when the teams last played last October, losing 47-21. Will West Shamokin have more luck at home instead of on the road? Watch the contest or check back on MaxPreps to find out.
