Rancho Cotate and Windsor are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Cougars will take on the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Cotate's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four contests, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Rancho Cotate took on Marin Catholic on Friday. The Cougars were beaten by the Wildcats 27-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Wildcats are ranked 86th).
Even if they lost, Rancho Cotate's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jerrek Buckley, Cassius Chaddock, and Asaeli Tuivomo, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Windsor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 17-10 win over Vintage. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Crushers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Rancho Cotate better keep an eye on Carter Vose lll. He was instrumental in Windsor's win, throwing for 136 yards and one touchdown, while also punching in one score on the ground.
Windsor didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Alonzo Leon, Fernando Lopez, and Semere Berhe picked up one apiece.
Rancho Cotate's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Windsor, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2.
Rancho Cotate couldn't quite get it done against Windsor in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 18-6. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
