Softball Recap: Central Drops Season-High Score on Florence

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They blew past the Florence Falcons 17-7 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won nine in a row.

Central got a massive performance out of Mycah Beth Ray, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Ray has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Benson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in nine consecutive games.

Central pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Florence, they moved to 5-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Central has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Sulligent on the 14th. As for Florence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-3 defeat against Brooks on the 14th.
