Stanton County extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-4. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cimarron Bluejays. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Trojans have suffered since April 15, 2025.
Kaydence McCleary spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Kynzi Fehringer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Allison Miravete also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Cimarron, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those four runs were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
On Cimarron's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Quinn Campbell gave up just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 20 Ks. Campbell has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashlynn Randa, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Becker, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cimarron beat Stanton County by a score of 8-4 later that day.
