Melbourne Central Catholic found their leader in underclassman Joseph Allen, who threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramel Hernandez, who picked up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Halifax Academy had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They claimed a resounding 40-0 victory over Trinity Christian Academy on the road.
Their wins bumped Melbourne Central Catholic to 7-2 and Halifax Academy to 7-1.
