Rancho Cotate and Maria Carrillo are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Pumas at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maria Carrillo took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Rancho Cotate, who comes in off a win.
Rancho Cotate is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Antioch on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Maria Carrillo's offense. They fell just short of Cardinal Newman by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Pumas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Paige Richards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Maria Carrillo, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rancho Cotate hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Maria Carrillo struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rancho Cotate couldn't quite finish off Maria Carrillo when the teams last played back in March and fell 14-12. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
