Softball Recap: Hughson Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Hughson gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Orestimba Warriors 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in March.

Presley Wells was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Grace Leedom was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Wells wasn't the only one making solid contact: Hughson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Hughson has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Orestimba, they moved to 6-9 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Hughson will take on Hilmar at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orestimba, they will face off against Turlock at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
