The Pettus Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 58-38 defeat at the hands of Warren.
Despite the loss, Pettus saw an underclassman step up: Desmond Montoya scored 17 points. Montoya continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ramon Reyna, who scored ten points.
Lewis Petty continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Warren, scoring 25 points. The match was Petty's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Jerrod Yeagin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Pettus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Warren, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
Pettus is on the road again on Saturday and play against Annapolis Christian Academy at 8:00 a.m. on December 30, 2023.
