Cambridge City Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Northeastern recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will host the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Cambridge City Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Cambridge City Lincoln took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Centerville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 6-5.
Ben Bates made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Bates was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Carson Hawk and Noah Patterson did most of the damage at the plate: Hawk went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Patterson went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Hawk is becoming a predictor of Cambridge City Lincoln's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Northeastern gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over Eastern Hancock. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Blake Waters was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
The victory made it two in a row for Northeastern and bumps their season record up to 13-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cambridge City Lincoln has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
