The shot banked off the glass, hit the front rim and then kissed the backboard again before falling through the net to lift the Marauders to a rivalry game win. Pandemonium ensued as the student body rushed the court.
St. Peter's Prep (11-1) trailed 47-33 at the half before rallying. The Marauders won the third quarter 25-15 to cut the deficit to 62-58 before outscoring Hudson Catholic 18-12 in the final eight minutes.
Prep, which plays North Bergen tonight, was paced by a game-high 26 points from senior guard
Nico Peña. Junior guard
Peyton Miller also chipped in 15 points while sophomore forward
Mason Santiago tallied 14 points. Rosa finished with 11 points following the half-court heave and junior guard
Austin Spencer contributed 10 points.
Hudson Catholic (9-6) looks to bounce back tonight against Union City. Pettiford had a team-high 21 points in the setback.
