Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Ocean City

Ocean City took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Egg Harbor Township, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles on Friday, sneaking past 3-1. The Raiders' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Brooke Douglas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Douglas wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jessica Mooney, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Taylor Vaugh, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Ocean City's record is now 3-0. As for Egg Harbor Township, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ocean City will take on Camden Catholic in a tournament on Saturday. As for Egg Harbor Township, they will challenge St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
