Newark was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Appoquinimink. The Yellowjackets came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Newark was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in Blue Hen Flight - A. Earlier in the week, Butch Simpson's team triumphed over Appoquinimink 42-10.
William Penn's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Daniel Johnson threw for 63 yards and DeShawn Smith had 30 yards receiving. On the ground Reggie Carroll chipped in 249 yards. Frank Burton helped William Penn's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 33 yards.
The Colonials' dynamic duo of Johnson and Smith proved tough for Concord to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Burton helped William Penn's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 33 yards.
Carroll provided a threat through the air and on the ground as William Penn defeated the Raiders.
Carroll was a force in the backfield as Marvin Dooley's team bested Concord.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, DuPont's Freddie Heard and Quadree Henderson have proven to be a lethal combination. Heard has thrown for 466 yards this season, while Henderson has 14 catches for 434 yards. The Colonials' Carroll leads the league in rushing yards with 1,239.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Tigers and George Kosanovich's team. DuPont enters the game ranked 15th in the state, while the Raiders ranks 14th.
Middletown added to the longest winning streak in Blue Hen Flight - A this week by beating Zeb Blum's team, 50-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
