Two dominant guards in Colton Blackham and Anywan Kuang are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The West Jordan Jaguars will be playing at home against the Kearns Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jordan will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
A well-balanced attack led West Jordan over Granger in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West Jordan blew Granger out of the water with a 77-49 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point West Jordan had established a 25 point advantage.
West Jordan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Blackham led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Blackham is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Taylorsville scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Kearns still came out on top. Kearns took down Taylorsville 71-57.
West Jordan pushed their record up to 11-10 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Kearns, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.
Everything went West Jordan's way against Kearns in their previous meeting back in January as West Jordan made off with a 83-57 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Kearns' Darin Detvongsa, who scored 16 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will West Jordan still be able to contain Detvongsa? There's only one way to find out.
