The St. John's Islanders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 50-17 win over Lowcountry Leadership on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. John's also won the last time the pair played back in January.
St. John's got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daeshia Buford out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. Buford is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmyne Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
St. John's now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John's will square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Military Magnet Academy will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Lowcountry Leadership, they will head out on the road to face off against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northwood Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the NaviGators in South Carolina (the Chargers are ranked ninth, while the NaviGators are ranked 273rd).
