Softball Recap: Wilmington Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Wilmington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Dwight Trojans get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2019.

Molly Southall was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Tayloe Stefancic, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Wilmington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Wilmington's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Dwight, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Wilmington will challenge Reed-Custer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Wilmington's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Dwight, they will head out on the road to face off against El Paso-Gridley at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
