The Kenesaw Blue Devils were the 46-38 winner over the Deshler Dragons when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Kenesaw fell to Deshler 48-42. Kenesaw's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Kenesaw lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adam Denkert, who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Jack Ryan, who scored ten points.
Deshler's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Easton Nash led the charge by scoring 18 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nash has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Harding, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Kenesaw dropped their record down to 6-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Deshler, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.
Kenesaw won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Giltner at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Giltner is ranked 234th, while Kenesaw is ranked 215th). As for Deshler, they will square off against Kenesaw at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kenesaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
