After only one run in their last matchup, Chesapeake made sure to put some runs up on the board against South Gallia on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Rebels. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29, 2024.

Braxton Brown made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Brown was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

In other batting news, Mason Budd and Peyton Muncy did most of the damage at the plate: Budd went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Muncy scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That run was Budd's first of the season. Austin Collins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Chesapeake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Gallia only posted an OBP of .241.

Chesapeake's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for South Gallia, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chesapeake will head out to face off against Ironton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Gallia, they will venture away from home to challenge Federal Hocking at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
