The University Christian Barracudas lost against the Hickory Christian Academy Knights back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. University Christian took a serious blow against Hickory Christian Academy, falling 74-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for University Christian in their matchups with Hickory Christian Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why University Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reece Morin. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Morin has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Max Haan was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Hickory Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleb Massey out in front who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Massey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jamaryon Jones, who scored nine points along with eight assists and seven steals.
University Christian dropped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hickory Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Statesville Christian the next time they take the court. University Christian will host Statesville Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hickory Christian Academy will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
