West Noble is 2-8 against Central Noble since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chargers will challenge the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. West Noble is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Angola hit West Noble with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 10-2 to the Hornets. The Chargers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
West Noble saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Eash, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Noble). They blew past Tippecanoe Valley 10-3 on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cougars with their most commanding win of the season.
Jacob Chenoweth made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Chenoweth was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Central Noble got a massive performance out of Ryne Keirn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave Keirn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Treyton Fletcher, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Central Noble always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Central Noble's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for West Noble, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
West Noble came up short against Central Noble in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 8-4. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
