After a string of three wins, the Bainbridge Bearcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monroe. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Bainbridge still got an impressive performance from Aj Grant, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The game was Grant's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keith Gaines, who scored ten points.
Bainbridge's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Monroe, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bainbridge is on the road again on Saturday and play against Seminole County at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. As for Monroe, they will challenge Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sumter County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 418th, while Monroe is ranked 36th).
