Mid-East recap Nov. 7, 2012
Silver Lake extended the longest winning streak in Mid-East this week by beating Hiawatha, 63-26. This was the team's 12th consecutive win.
Rossville took down Pleasant Ridge 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Reesor ran for 87 yards and caught one passes for 18 yards in the win.
The Bulldogs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tucker Horak threw for 50 and one touchdown and Kyle Hammer had 57 yards receiving. Thatcher Horak helped Rossville's passing attack out by catching two balls for 39 yards.
Dalton Catron provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Rossville topped the Rams. He completed two passes for 64 yards and also ran for 48 yards.
Marcus Catron made the biggest impact on defense this week as Steve Buhler's team defeated Pleasant Ridge. The 6-foot-0 junior recorded one fumble and grabbed one sack.
5-foot-8 quarterback Catron of the Bulldogs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1671. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. On the ground, Wabaunsee's Ethan Miller has rushed for 1517 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jeff Torkelson. The Silver Lake star has 31 catches for 497 yards.
Silver Lake made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,233 from 1,537. The improvement was the result of 63-26 victory over the Red Hawks last week.
