Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 19 to 8 on the offensive boards, a fact the Chatfield Chargers proved on Thursday. They blew past Glenwood Springs 56-33. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Chatfield.
Chatfield can attribute much of their success to Audrey Hubbell, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Reed, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Glenwood Springs still got an impressive performance from Taia Nykerk, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds. Nykerk scored a full 48.5% of Glenwood Springs' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anastasia Shea, who scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds.
Chatfield's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Glenwood Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chatfield will take on Dakota Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dakota Ridge and Chatfield are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Glenwood Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canon City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
