The Tonganoxie Chieftains had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over Chanute. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Tonganoxie also won the last time the pair played back in September.
Colton Brusven was his usual excellent self, rushing for 208 yards and three touchdowns. Isaiah Holthaus also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Chanute saw an underclassman step up: Kris Harding ii threw for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Tonganoxie's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Chanute, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-2.
Tonganoxie will head out on the road to face off against Atchison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Atchison has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 583 points over their last ten games. Chanute does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
