Blackhawk hasn't had much luck against Montour recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cougars will take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Blackhawk nor Hopewell made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cougars lost 11-1 to the Vikings.
Blackhawk saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Saliba, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Montour came tearing into Wednesday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Quakers a 14-0 shutout. Considering the Spartans have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaden Loveridge looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Levi Gladu was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Matteo Weber, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quaker Valley only posted an OBP of .118.
Blackhawk's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Montour, their record is now 14-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blackhawk hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Montour struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blackhawk couldn't quite get it done against Montour in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 8-3. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
