Football Recap: Countryside Piles Up the Points Against River Ridge

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Countryside had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They blew past the River Ridge Royal Knights 27-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Countryside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Atina Acosta, Aaliyah Lopez, and Lily Smith picked up one apiece.

Countryside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.6 points over those games. As for River Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Coming up, Countryside will challenge Gulf at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers' defense has only allowed 3.1 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. River Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
