West Craven's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shalawn Yates, who scored 17 points along with five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Yates has scored at least 25% of West Craven's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Torvonyah Heggie, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Northside - Jacksonville, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They took a 58-41 bruising from D.H. Conley on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northside - Jacksonville in their matchups with D.H. Conley: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite their loss, Northside - Jacksonville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lakyia Rogers, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Madyson Wills, who scored ten points.
West Craven's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: West Craven hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.8 points per game. It's a different story for Northside - Jacksonville, though, as they've been averaging only 27.2 points per game.
